About Meditation

“Be mentally anchored in that which alone is changeless in this changing world: God”

Central to Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings are scientific techniques of concentration and meditation that lead to the direct personal experience of God.  These yoga methods quiet the mind and make it possible to withdraw one’s energy and attention from the usual turbulence of thoughts, emotions and sensory perceptions.  In the clarity of that inner stillness, one comes to experience a deepening awareness of God’s presence as inner peace and divine bliss,

When practiced daily with devotion, the basic beginning techniques lead to deepening levels of awareness and perception. Introduction to these techniques can be found in A Beginner’s Meditation on the Self-Realization Fellowship website.  There you will find short videos on posture (asana), focus of attention, and meditation.

These techniques are fully described in the SRF Lessons which are sent by mail for personal study.  The Lessons may be ordered directly from SRF.  Applications are also available at the Boston Center.
